We went out with some guests who wanted to experience an exciting challenge, and what could be more exciting than ice climbing with Abisko Adventure? You don’t need any prior experience to ice climb, as their guides will take good care of you.
The process of the experience itself
The tour begins with a short minibus transfer to the icefall, where the guide provides guests with all the equipment needed for ice climbing, such as shoes, crampons, helmet, climbing harness, and ice axe.
After that, the guide will go through the basic techniques for ice climbing, including how to use crampons and an ice ax.
Then the ice climbing itself begins, with the guide belaying a guest who climbs up while the others wait for their turn and cheer on the climber.
For some, it is truly emotional as they may have overcome a fear while climbing and become impatient to do it again, after initially barely daring to be half a meter up.
Remember to dress appropriately, as you will both exert yourself and stand still waiting for your turn.
